Abstract
Maize (Zea mays) is one of the most important arable crops worldwide, as well as in North Macedonia, due to its economic importance, nutritional value, and agronomic significance. With the aim of selecting the most suitable hybrids for the climatic and soil conditions of the Polog region, a field experiment was conducted during the 2024 growing season using a randomized block design with five replications. The study investigated several yield-related parameters of different maize hybrids, including: number of kernel rows per ear, number of kernels per row, total number of kernels per ear, ear weight, kernel weight per ear, cob weight, shelling percentage, and grain yield. The hybrids included in the experiment originated from different seed-producing companies and belonged to various FAO maturity groups, namely: FAO 360 (GW3808), FAO 380 (GW9003), and FAO 400 (Kashmir).
