Abstract

Experience has taught us that the biggest mistake in the development of tourism is that certain places are massively promoted, while some other places remain undeveloped for a long time though these very places might have a larger potential. In order to make a change, a detailed analysis of the development of alternative types of tourism is needed. Because of the increasing involvement of a bigger number of tourists, in different alternative tourist activities, it can be seen that this sector of alternative tourism, as a part of tourist industry, is increasing in importance. This is the very reason why this issue is elaborated, and why opportunities are being studied for the development of alternative types of tourism in Polog valley in the Republic of Macedonia. There are good conditions for the development of many alternative types of tourism in the Republic of Macedonia. The same case is with Polog hollow which is abundant in underlined selectivity in this respect
