Abstract
The tradition of translating the Quran into Albanian language is belated, although its presence is early. The Quran was not translated until 1921, and there were several reasons for this. The National Renaissance Period gave impetus, inter alia, to the translation of the Quran into Albanian language. Although, one would expect its translation to come from the ranks of the Islamic religious community, it was translated by an Orthodox Albanian, called Ilo Qafëzezi. It was only 15 years later that an Albanian intellectual, Hafiz Ali Korça, who took the initiative to translate the Quran, including Hafiz Ibrahim Dalliu, to continue with other additional translations after almost half a century. In this conference paper, we will focus on the translation of the Quran into Albanian language and some issues concerning the target language of the translation.
