Abstract
Although Camus wrote only four plays, they are very contemporary and are staged every year by Albanian theaters. The plays Caligula and The Misunderstanding present modern man: living in a closed world, in a trap where hopelessness reigns, an absurd, meaningless and irrational human universe. While the State of Siege not as a dramatic piece, but as a performance and spectacle. Here he realizes a type of theater that relies on directorial ideas rather than on the inherent requirements of the dramatic work. The Just Assassins, which is a historical dramatic work, all the characters in the play have existed and are as Camus describes them, he has only tried to adapt them to the circumstances of the time. The reception of French literature and the influence of Camus on Albanian criticism: some readers understood the importance of Camus after his death, such as the Albanians of Kosovo and North Macedonia, while the reader of Albania first became acquainted with Camus in 1991 with the translation of the novel The Stranger by Rajmonda Vuçini, which marks the first book of modern world literature published in Albania after the fall of the dictatorship.
