Abstract
This paper examines the impact of postmodernism on the works of renowned Albanian and foreign authors, Ismail Kadare and Franz Kafka, and their adaptation into visual media such as film and video games. The primary objective is to analyze how postmodern narrative elements, absurdity, and deconstruction present in the works of Kadare and Kafka have been transformed and evolved into other art forms, offering a broader and renewed understanding for modern and global audiences. The methodology used is a comparative analysis of literary texts and their film and video game adaptations, alongside studying the various critiques that accompanied these adaptations. The findings of this study indicate that these adaptations, while different in format, retain the essence of the original message and provide the works with a new dimension, making them accessible to a wider audience. The paper concludes by suggesting that postmodernism, through film and video game adaptations, can serve as a powerful tool for preserving and developing both Albanian and global literature, making it more accessible and engaging to international audiences.
