Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between myth and justice by examining two texts that represent distinct legal traditions and forms of law: Lekë Dukagjini’s Kanun, a traditional Albanian legal code, and Franz Kafka’s The Trial, a modern depiction of bureaucratic absurdity and injustice. The analysis focuses on how both works articulate moral structures, social norms, and individual perceptions of justice. Based on a systematic comparative approach informed by theoretical and cultural perspectives, the study assesses the impact of historical and social contexts on the development of these structures. The analytical section highlights both the similarities and differences between traditional and modern conceptions of justice, emphasizing the universal role of myth as a guiding framework for actions and social relationships. The paper also reflects on how regional traditions and modern European literature coincide to shape varying understandings of justice and individual responsibility. The results demonstrate that, despite cultural and historical differences, myth remains a fundamental element in understanding and legitimizing justice in any society.
