Abstract

Stylistics is a linguistic discipline that spread across Europe as a new derivation of linguistics and in later years of the twentieth century it spread all over the world. The stylistics of the Albanian language, as those of other languages, studies the means and possibilities of expression in Albanian, including the discourse styles as well as Albanian texts from the viewpoint of the secondary linguistic organization. This study has brought together the most renowned authors in Albanian literature, the representatives of two different literary periods, Naim Frasheri as a romanticist and Ismail Kadare, as a real modern literary representative. Even though they (have) lived in different literary periods and they never had the chance to meet in person with one another, Kadare met the former’s works – the stylistic element does not differ from each other. They used almost the same affixes for stylistic connotation of the words that they used. We can find in both works affixes that express meanings of diminutive or endearment, irony and mockery, etc. The specialty of such creations with diminutive affixes –ëz, -th, -uc is the fact that one can relate with them different nouns by creating words with concrete meaning such as letërz, bisedëz, kartonth, zeth, as well as shtetth, sekretth, planetth, atëzë, këtëze, etc. The aim of using stylistic elements or stylemes has not always been the same in both of them. Frasheri used them more often for emotional connotation, in order to describe or say the verse more beautifully, or even express some doze of irony for something; on the other hand, in Kadare’s creations we can find these elements used to mock or express irony. In addition, the aim of using these elements in the works of these authors was/has been the cleansing and enriching of the language itself.
