Abstract
The African novel presents a biography of his father related to a memorial work about Africa where Le Clézio lived during his childhood, the writer begins a real investigation into his origins. To make this novel more accessible to the reader, he presents his story with images, about fifteen photographs that are selected from his father's collection. This picture depicts his life and his sufferings in Africa, or more easily with pictures than with words. Therefore, Le Clézio in this novel describes a memory that is not only his, but is also the memory of the time that preceded his birth. The myth that follows him through the narrative and the story of his life once emerges as a problematic, and often mysterious, game between text and images.
