Abstract
We need to reread the history instead of rewriting it. Historiography is a discourse deeply connected to politics. During 2022 and 2023, the History of Albanians during the 20th Century was published, a project carried out by the Institute of History. The authors are renowned Albanian historians, the scientific editor is Beqir Meta, and the project manager is Muharrem Dezhgiu. The History of Albanians during the 20th Century is divided into 5 volumes divided according to chronology and spanning 3,000 pages. When browsing such a voluminous work prepared by a team of academics, expectations are naturally high. This publication has a noticeable, perhaps unintentional, shortcoming: the reflection of the history of Albanians in North Macedonia in only 3% or less than 100 pages. A scientific project that aims to write national history during its drafting should have provided more space to reflect events and mention personalities from the history of Albanians in North Macedonia who are an inseparable part of the Albanian people.
