Abstract
We are all witnessing the digital revolution which nowadays, has a lot of influence in the communication and society. Recent discoveries in the information and communication technology are sometimes compared with the novation of Gutenberg’s printing machine. However, how does this digitalization of information, knowledge and communication daily affect the language? Will the language change or will It disappear completely? It is estimated that, at least 2000 languages are destined to disappear in the next decades and their role will decrease heavily without having any influence in the academic world. What is the state of the German language at this point? With approximately 100 million speakers, the German language is well-positioned compared to the German language persists. Despite its decrease in the international stage, the German language continues to be the second most-studied language in Europe. Due to Europe’s integration history in the 20th century, Germany and Austria never demanded to give more recognition to the German language from the administration of the European Union. However, the German language has a very high status in terms of contracts and treaties of the Union. Të gjithë jemi dëshmitarë të revolucionit digjital, i cili sot ka një ndikim shumë të rëndësishëm në komunikim dhe shoqëri. Zbulimet e fundit në teknologjinë e informacionit dhe komunikimit janë krahasuar nganjëherë me novacionin e Gutenberg-ut për shtypin e shkruar. Por çfarë ndikimi kanë te gjuha gjithë ky digjitalizim i informacionit, dijes dhe komunikimit të përditshëm? Do të ndryshojë gjuha apo edhe të zhduket? Është vlerësuar se së paku 2000 gjuhë janë të destinuara drejt zhdukjes në dekadat e ardhshme, roli i tyre do të zvogëlohet ndjeshëm dhe nuk do të kenë ndikim në botën akademike. Cilat janë gjasat e mbijetesës së gjuhës gjermane? Me pothuajse 100 milionë folës, gjermanishtja është shumë mirë e pozicionuar në krahasim me gjuhët e tjera. Pavarësisht rënies së theksuar të rolit të saj ndërkombëtar, gjuha gjermane vazhdon të jetë gjuha e dytë më e studiuar në Evropë. Për shkak të historisë së integrimit të Evropës në shekullin XX, Gjermania dhe Austria nuk kanë kërkuar që gjermanishtes t’i jepet njohje më e gjerë nga administrata e Bashkimit Evropian, megjithatë ka mjaftueshëm një status më të lartë në kontratat dhe traktatet e Unionit.
